FTC Bylaws
Bylaws of the Fortuna Tierra Club approved at the September 11, 2017, Meeting
OUR MISSION STATEMENT
Fortuna Tierra Club is a women’s club organized to promote neighbors coming together to give aid and support when needed and raise funds for local philanthropic endeavors.
MEETINGS
Meetings are to be held at the frequency approved by the membership.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP
Women who support the philanthropic endeavors of the Fortuna Tierra Club are eligible for membership. Any member who has paid dues for twenty years shall be awarded Lifetime Membership and is not required to pay dues.
DUES
The amount designated for dues is determined by vote of the members.
OFFICERS AND THEIR DUTIES
Club officers are President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
PRESIDENT: The President provides leadership and guidance, including conducting the meetings and overseeing club activities.
VICE PRESIDENT: The Vice President assists the President and presides at meetings and other functions in her absence.
SECRETARY: The Secretary records and obtains approval of the minutes from the membership and take cares of Club business correspondence.
TREASURER: The Treasurer develops the annual budget. She handles Club’s financial transactions, including collecting income, paying approved expenses, and financial recordkeeping and correspondence.
COMMITTEES
CLUB OPERATIONS COMMITTEE keeps track of changes to the Bylaws and the Club’s official document(s) regarding Policies and Procedures and finds qualified candidates for Officers’ positions.
COMPASSION COMMITTEE monitors health and related concerns of members and their loved ones. She conveys this information to members and manages appropriate compassionate responses.
FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE is responsible for raising funds to support the Club’s philanthropic endeavors.
PHILANTHROPIC COMMITTEE develops and implements the plan for the year’s philanthropic activities.
BOARD
The Board of Fortuna Tierra Club shall be made up of the Officers and Committee Chairs.
INUREMENT POLICY
No part of Club funds shall inure, or be distributed to its members, directors, officers, or other private persons, other than for the furtherance of the Club’s objectives.
CLUB DISSOLUTION
Upon dissolution of the Club, the Board shall select a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization with a similar or compatible mission to receive the remaining assets, after all debts and liabilities have been paid.
GUIDELINES
Club meetings are guided by the current version of Robert's Rules of Order Newly Revised.
AMENDMENT TO BYLAWS
These Bylaws may be amended if approved by a simple majority vote at a membership meeting, provided the proposed amendments are distributed to members two weeks in advance.
