Fortuna Tierra Scholarship Information

Fortuna Tierra offers two different types of scholarships. First, scholarships are offered to current Ridgway Secondary School graduates and graduates who are home-schooled who live in the Ridgway Secondary School district; all starting the pursuit of higher learning at college or technical schools. Second, scholarships are offered to previous Ridgway Secondary School graduates with ongoing college or technical school expenses. The award of the scholarship funds will be made to the student's account of the institution he/she is attending.

Fortuna Tierra Scholarships for High School Seniors

The majority of Fortuna Tierra’s scholarship funding is directed to current Ridgway Secondary School graduates and are starting the pursuit of higher learning at college or technical schools in the Fall. The scholarship committee works closely with the school counselor in administering this program.

The scholarship committee’s top ranked candidate is awarded the Richard Shotwell Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship was created in 2007 to honor the generous $45,000 contribution from Shotwell’s estate and Shotwell’s lifetime commitment to philanthropy.

The student with the next highest rating receives the Fortuna Tierra Club Founders Scholarship. All scholarship amounts are determined by the annual amount budgeted for scholarships.
